Three men charged in Florida-Georgia sneaker heists, authorities say
Three men—Herbert Davis III, Michael McCray, and Tyrone Howard—are facing charges in a series of sneaker heists at malls in Florida and Georgia that occurred on Oct. 21 at Treasure Coast Mall in Jensen Beach, Nov. 7 at a mall in Georgia, and Nov. 17 at Volusia Mall in Daytona Beach.

The Martin County Sheriff's Office and Florida's Office of Statewide Prosecution conducted the investigation. Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier said Thursday that law enforcement will pursue these cases.

In the Jensen Beach incident, thieves cut through the concrete roof and dropped into the Champs Sports store, stealing hundreds of pairs of Nike shoes.

After one of the crimes, two suspects attempted to burglarize another store in Daytona Beach but were stopped by police.
Charges and scope
The suspects face charges including burglary, grand theft, and possession of burglary tools. Officials say they are linked to as many as 12 rooftop burglaries and are believed to be part of a $1 million organized shoe-theft ring.

If convicted, each individual faces a maximum sentence of life in prison.
