Officer-Involved Shooting Leaves One Dead in Oklahoma City


An officer-involved shooting involving the Oklahoma City Police Department (OCPD) resulted in one fatality on Tuesday morning. The incident occurred in Oklahoma City near the intersection of Northwest 7th Street and North Council Road. The OCPD confirmed that three officers fired their weapons during the engagement.

Initial Attack and Suspect Engagement

OCPD officers initially responded to reports of an assault involving a man attacking a person with a machete near the Northwest 7th Street area. Following the attack, the victim was transported to a hospital for treatment. The suspect fled the scene but reportedly returned to the location around 3:30 a.m.

Upon returning to the scene, the suspect, who was still holding a bladed weapon, engaged with the officers. The OCPD reported that the man refused to comply with the officers’ commands. Officers initially deployed less-than-lethal weapons in an attempt to subdue the man.

Use of Force and Fatality Outcome

The less-than-lethal equipment utilized by the officers was ineffective in stopping the suspect. The OCPD then stated that three officers discharged their firearms, shooting the man.

The man was subsequently transported to a nearby hospital. Despite receiving medical attention, the man later died from his injuries. The shooting remains under investigation by the Oklahoma City Police Department. This incident marked a tragic outcome following the initial report of an attack with a machete in Oklahoma City.
