Fatal Shooting at Lincoln University in Pennsylvania
Shooting Erupts During Homecoming at Lincoln University
One person was killed and six others were injured in a shooting that occurred Saturday night at Lincoln University in Pennsylvania, United States. The incident took place during the university’s homecoming celebrations outside the International Cultural Center following a football game, authorities said.
Victim Identified as Wilmington Resident
Officials identified the deceased as Jujuan Jeffers, 25, of Wilmington, Delaware. Jeffers died shortly after midnight from a gunshot wound to the head.
The six injured individuals, ranging in age from 20 to 25, were taken to nearby hospitals and are expected to recover, according to police. Authorities confirmed that one of the injured is a current Lincoln University student and another is a graduate. The remaining four victims have no direct connection to the university.
Multiple Shooters Believed Involved
During a Sunday evening news conference, police said that preliminary evidence suggests more than one shooter was involved. The gunfire erupted suddenly as a crowd gathered after the game. Officials stated that the shooting does not appear to have been a planned mass attack.
FBI and Local Police Conduct Investigation
The FBI and local law enforcement spent Sunday searching the area with dogs to collect evidence, including shell casings. Investigators are also reviewing videos taken by people at the scene and have asked the public to share any footage with the FBI to assist in the investigation.
One Arrest Made, Investigation Ongoing
Police arrested Zecqueous Morgan Thompson and charged him with carrying a concealed firearm without a license. Authorities have not confirmed whether Thompson’s weapon was used in the shooting. He is being held at Chester County Prison on $25,000 cash bail.
The investigation remains active as authorities continue to identify all individuals involved in the shooting.
