Shooting Incident in Woodland Heights Leaves Three Hospitalized
Houston police confirmed that three men were shot outside Cantina Barba in the Woodland Heights neighborhood early Sunday morning. The incident happened around 3:30 a.m. on North Main Street, not far from downtown Houston, Texas, United States of America.
According to investigators, the altercation began inside the bar when a man refused to leave a bathroom. Customers notified the security guard, who then escorted the man outside. Once outside, a group of six or seven of the man’s friends allegedly attacked the guard.
Police reported that during the scuffle, the security guard felt someone trying to grab his weapon. The guard drew his gun and opened fire, striking two people in the chest. An employee was also hit in the hand. All three victims were transported to a hospital for treatment.
Authorities said the security guard later complained of medical issues and was also taken for medical care. Officials confirmed that he is a licensed security guard. Police have not released the identities of those involved.
Houston police have stated they will continue to investigate the incident. They plan to speak with the victims at the hospital and share findings with the Harris County District Attorney’s Office to determine whether charges will be filed. As of now, no charges have been announced.
The incident took place near a busy entertainment area where late-night concerts were also being held, drawing large crowds into the neighborhood. Residents reported heavy traffic and rowdy behavior in the area prior to the shooting.
Police are urging anyone with information or eyewitness accounts to come forward as the investigation continues.
