Arrest Made After Teen Wounded in Morgan Hill Shooting
Authorities have confirmed the arrest of a Gilroy man in connection with a shooting that left a teenager injured in Morgan Hill, California, United States. The incident took place shortly after 12:10 a.m. on September 13, 2025, when officers responded to reports of multiple gunshots fired in the 100 block of Ciolino Avenue, between Del Monte Avenue and Monterey Road.
When officers arrived at the location, they located several bullet casings on both the street and the sidewalk. During the investigation, police learned that a 17-year-old male victim had been transported to Saint Louise Hospital. The teenager had suffered non-life-threatening injuries, was treated by medical staff, and later discharged.
According to investigators, the suspect, identified as 28-year-old Giovani Ahumada of Gilroy, was sitting on a sidewalk when he fired shots at a passing vehicle carrying four people. Surveillance footage obtained after the incident showed the suspect fleeing southbound through a nearby apartment complex.
Following this evidence, search warrants were obtained for multiple residences in Gilroy and Morgan Hill. On Thursday morning, detectives, assisted by the Gilroy/Morgan Hill SWAT Team, carried out those warrants. During the operation, Ahumada was taken into custody without incident.
Police reported that Ahumada has been booked into the Santa Clara County Jail on suspicion of attempted homicide and being a felon in possession of a firearm. Authorities have not released further details on the identities of the occupants of the targeted vehicle.
