Fatal Shooting Erupts Outside McDonald's in East Hollywood Leaving One Dead and Another Injured
East Hollywood was shaken in the early hours of the morning as a deadly shooting outside a McDonald’s claimed one life and left another injured.
Shooting Sparks from Dispute
Police responded to reports of gunfire at approximately 3:30 a.m. in the 1000 block of N Western Avenue, specifically in the parking lot of a McDonald’s. Authorities confirmed that the shooting stemmed from a dispute between two parties. During the confrontation, a suspect drew a handgun and fired at two victims.
Victim Identified
One of the victims, 36-year-old Feliciano Curiel Marteniz, was rushed to a nearby hospital but was pronounced dead. The second victim sustained injuries but is currently in stable condition.
Fiancée Details the Incident
Marteniz’s fiancée, Kerin Gonzalez, revealed that the confrontation began following a minor car accident. According to Gonzalez, the suspect, identified by police as Humberto Delgado, escalated the situation with verbal attacks, prompting Marteniz to intervene.
“We were behind him all the time,” Gonzalez said. “Our car has a sensor that brakes automatically if it detects anything in front of it.” Witnesses reported that Marteniz struck Delgado during the altercation to protect Gonzalez from verbal harassment. Gonzalez added, “I am pretty sure my fiancé saw the gun because he stepped in front of me.”
Suspect in Custody
Authorities have booked Delgado on charges of manslaughter, and the investigation into the incident remains ongoing. Police continue to gather information from witnesses and are urging anyone with further details to come forward.
