San Antonio Zoo Offers 20000 Free Tickets to Families and Heroes Affected by Flooding
The San Antonio Zoo has opened its gates to thousands of families and community heroes impacted by the devastating July Fourth flooding, donating more than 20,000 complimentary admission tickets. Valued at over half a million dollars, this initiative reflects the zoo’s commitment to providing comfort and relief during a time of hardship.
Texans Supporting Texans
Tim Morrow, President and CEO of the San Antonio Zoo, expressed gratitude toward everyone who made the effort possible. He noted that the campaign’s success demonstrates the spirit of Texans helping one another. According to him, each visitor who took part in the program played a role in creating opportunities for flood-affected families to find moments of joy and peace inside the zoo.
The Zoo Cares Together for Texans Campaign
The ticket giveaway was made possible through the Zoo Cares Together for Texans campaign. Earlier in August, the zoo launched a special initiative inviting guests to visit for a reduced entry fee of $10. For every discounted ticket purchased and used, the zoo donated one admission ticket to a family, volunteer, or first responder impacted by the flooding.
Through this effort, more than 20,000 complimentary admissions were generated, creating a meaningful connection between the community and the zoo.
Distribution Through Community Partners
To ensure the tickets reach those who need them most, the San Antonio Zoo partnered with trusted community organizations. Goodwill, Salvation Army, and the Hill Country Mental Health and Developmental Disabilities Center (MHDD) are assisting in distributing the passes directly to families, volunteers, and first responders.
A Place of Comfort and Respite
For families who lost so much during the flooding, a visit to the zoo offers a small but meaningful escape from the hardships they continue to face. Volunteers and first responders, who gave their time and energy to support relief efforts, are also being recognized with free admissions.
This initiative provides more than just access to the zoo—it represents hope, healing, and a reminder that even in times of crisis, communities can come together to create moments of comfort.
The San Antonio Zoo’s donation stands as a symbol of compassion and resilience, highlighting the importance of unity and kindness when disaster strikes.
