Jacksonville Firefighter Accused of Stealing Over 100 Items from Winn-Dixie

Authorities in Jacksonville have arrested firefighter Brian Albright after he was accused of taking more than 100 items from Winn-Dixie grocery stores.

According to Action News Jax, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office received a report from one store last month detailing at least three occasions where Albright, 51, allegedly failed to scan all his purchases.

The subsequent investigation determined that the alleged thefts occurred no fewer than 27 times at Winn-Dixie locations, resulting in over 100 unpaid items. The report also stated that several of these incidents happened while Albright was on duty and dressed in his uniform.

Because Albright is a city employee, the sheriff’s office assigned the Integrity Unit to handle the case. He was later booked into Duval County Jail on a petit theft charge and subsequently released on bond.

Fire department officials told Action News Jax, “Engineer Albright has been removed from the field and will be suspended pending termination.”
