4 Teens Shot in Chicago’s West Garfield Park Neighborhood

A shooting incident on Chicago’s West Side Sunday night left four teenagers wounded, according to police.

Authorities stated the gunfire erupted around 11:30 p.m. in the 700 block of South Springfield Avenue, located in the West Garfield Park neighborhood. Police reported that a man drew a firearm and began shooting into a crowd after becoming involved in a dispute with another man.

Among the victims was a 14-year-old boy who sustained a gunshot wound to the chest. He was transported to Stroger Hospital, where he remains in critical condition.

Two other teens—a 13-year-old boy and a 15-year-old girl—suffered gunshot wounds to the leg and thigh, respectively. Both were also taken to Stroger Hospital and are expected to survive.

A fourth victim, a 16-year-old girl, was struck multiple times and taken to Mt. Sinai Hospital. Her condition was listed as fair.

Investigators have not yet determined the events that led to the argument or the exact circumstances surrounding the shooting.

As of now, no suspects have been apprehended.

Chicago police continue to investigate the case.
