Cloudy Skies and Cooler Weather in Seattle Before Midweek Heat

Seattle is currently experiencing cooler-than-normal temperatures and overcast skies as drought conditions continue to worsen due to below-average rainfall in June and early July. While the start of July has been notably dry, forecasts from the Climate Prediction Center indicate the potential for slightly increased precipitation this week.

Rainfall, however, is expected to be minimal and sporadic, with only light showers possible in select areas. A weak atmospheric disturbance near the region is contributing to an increase in onshore flow, which is keeping cloud cover prevalent across much of the area on Sunday.

This same onshore flow is also holding down afternoon temperatures, which are expected to remain cooler than seasonal norms through the remainder of the weekend.

Looking ahead, a shift in the weather pattern is expected midweek. Forecasts call for a noticeable warm-up by Wednesday, with temperatures climbing into the mid-80s. Despite the rising heat, conditions will remain mostly dry, with only a slight chance of thunderstorms in mountain areas.
