Columbus Woman Shot After Confronting Suspected Car Burglar



A man has been arrested in connection with a shooting that left a woman critically injured after she confronted him for allegedly breaking into vehicles on Columbus' East Side.

Javir Samuel Green-Turner, 20, was taken into custody on July 16 and charged with felonious assault. He remains held at Franklin County Jail as of July 17.

The incident occurred around 5 a.m. on July 11, when a woman reportedly witnessed Green-Turner breaking into cars near the Mayfair Apartments. According to police, the woman and her adult daughter pursued the suspect by vehicle to the intersection of Elbern Avenue and South Ashburton Road.

Upon being confronted, Green-Turner allegedly fired five shots, one of which struck the woman in the neck. Authorities stated that he fled the scene on a bicycle.

The woman was transported to Grant Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. Her condition had not been updated publicly as of July 17.
