Philadelphia Police Seek Public’s Help in Identifying Suspect Linked to Bar Shooting That Injured Eight

Philadelphia authorities have released a photograph of a suspect wanted in connection with a mass shooting outside a South Philadelphia bar that left eight people injured earlier this month.

The violent incident unfolded in the early hours of July 5, just before 4 a.m., near 7 Elements, a bar located at 11th Street and Washington Avenue. According to police, a dispute broke out outside the venue and quickly escalated into a physical confrontation involving knives.

During the altercation, Michael Welton, a 43-year-old security guard on duty at the bar, attempted to break up the fight. In the process, Welton opened fire in an effort to intervene, according to investigators. He was shot during the chaos and suffered injuries alongside seven other individuals.

All of the wounded victims were reported to be in stable condition following the shooting.

Welton was subsequently arrested and charged with attempted murder, police confirmed.

As part of the ongoing investigation, authorities on Wednesday released an image of a suspect they believe was involved in the incident. Officials are urging anyone with information to contact them at 215-686-TIPS.
