Woman Fatally Shot at Southeast Houston Apartment Complex as Police Detain Another in Ongoing Investigation
A 75-year-old woman was shot and killed Tuesday morning outside an apartment in Houston’s MacGregor neighborhood, prompting a homicide investigation and the detention of another woman believed to be connected to the scene.
The Houston Police Department responded to the 4000 block of Griggs Road around 11:15 a.m., after receiving reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers discovered the elderly woman lying unresponsive on the staircase of an apartment complex. She was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police.
Officers proceeded to the apartment unit connected to the stairwell, where they encountered a 42-year-old woman inside. She was taken into custody for questioning, though police have not yet confirmed her role in the shooting or her relationship to the victim.
Investigators are working to piece together the sequence of events leading to the fatal shooting and to determine any connections between the individuals involved and the location. At this time, the motive remains unclear, and no charges have been filed.
