Elderly Couple Found Dead in Arlington Home in Apparent Murder-Suicide
Tragic Discovery in Quiet Jacksonville Neighborhood
A peaceful neighborhood in Arlington, Jacksonville, was shaken on Wednesday morning after an elderly couple was found dead from gunshot wounds inside their home. The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office responded to the tragic scene on Clements Woods Lane just before 7:40 a.m.
Couple Found with Gunshot Wounds
Upon arrival, officers discovered a man and a woman—both believed to be between 75 and 80 years old—unresponsive and suffering from gunshot injuries. Tragically, both were pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators believe the two were husband and wife.
Police Say No Ongoing Threat
Following an initial investigation, police stated that the incident appears to be isolated, and there are no suspects currently being sought. Authorities believe no threat exists to the surrounding community.
Handgun Recovered at the Scene
A handgun was found inside the home, and investigators believe one of the two victims may have used the weapon. While the full circumstances are still under investigation, police are considering the possibility of a murder-suicide. JSO Homicide Sergeant Steve Rudlaff confirmed the weapon was recovered and emphasized that the investigation remains in its early stages.
Caretaker Alerted Authorities
The couple’s caretaker made the heartbreaking discovery and immediately contacted law enforcement. The identity of the victims has not yet been publicly released as officials work to notify next of kin.

Homicide detectives are continuing to gather evidence and speak with those close to the couple to understand what may have led to the tragedy.
