Ross Perot Jr. Takes the Helm at U.S. Chamber of Commerce with Vision for Economic Growth
Renowned Business Leader from Texas Brings Global Expertise to National Advocacy Role
A New Era of Leadership Begins
Ross Perot Jr., a prominent business leader and real estate developer from Texas, has officially taken over as the new Chair of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Board. Perot, who serves as chairman of Hillwood and The Perot Group, was elected to a two-year term, marking a new chapter in the Chamber's strategic vision for American enterprise and global competitiveness.
He succeeds outgoing Chair Mark Ordan, who led the board during a period of significant transition. Ordan was praised for his dedicated leadership and commitment to the Chamber’s mission during his tenure.
Deep Roots in American Business and Innovation
Perot’s journey with the Chamber began in June 2020. Since then, he has been an active and influential board member, serving as vice chair before ascending to his current role. His career spans multiple industries—from oil and gas to real estate and technology—making him a dynamic and well-rounded figure in American business.
"Being appointed to lead the Chamber is both a responsibility and an honor," said Perot. “The free enterprise system made it possible for my family to live the American dream, and I’m committed to protecting and advancing that opportunity for businesses across the country.”
Guiding the Future of Free Enterprise
Under Perot’s leadership, the Chamber is expected to continue its advocacy for pro-growth policies, including:
Making tax reforms permanent
Expanding domestic energy initiatives
Finalizing new international trade agreements
Advancing permitting reforms
These efforts are aimed at creating a climate that encourages innovation, attracts investment, and generates job opportunities across the United States.
Perot's vision aligns with the Chamber’s mission to be the leading voice for businesses of all sizes—championing the principles of free enterprise not only domestically but around the world.
A Track Record of Strategic Leadership
Perot is no stranger to large-scale impact. As the founder and chairman of Hillwood, he has led the development of major real estate ventures, including the expansive AllianceTexas—a hub for logistics and commerce in North Texas.
In the technology sector, he co-founded Perot Systems Corporation and served as its CEO until it was acquired by Dell Inc. in 2009. His experience at the intersection of business and innovation has established him as a leader with both strategic depth and global perspective.
In recent years, Perot has also ventured into sports, co-investing in the launch of Major League Cricket in 2023 alongside business partner Anurag Jain.
Recognized for Lifetime Achievements
Perot’s contributions to business and community have not gone unnoticed. In March, he was honored with the inaugural Nasdaq Lifetime Achievement Award. He also remains active in various civic and academic organizations, including the American Enterprise Institute, the Hoover Institution, and Vanderbilt University, his alma mater.
Notably, Perot set a world record in 1982 when, at the age of 23, he became the first person to circumnavigate the globe by helicopter. The mission, spanning over 26,000 miles and crossing 26 countries, showcased his adventurous spirit and commitment to pushing boundaries.
A New Vice Chair with Global Perspective
With Perot moving into the chair position, the Chamber board has elected Jill Wyant as vice chair. Wyant is President and CEO of Madison Air and brings over 25 years of experience leading major enterprises in the industrial and healthcare sectors. Her election signifies the Chamber’s continued focus on inclusive, forward-thinking leadership.
"I’m proud to step into this role at such a pivotal moment for American business," Wyant said. “The Chamber stands at the intersection of leadership and impact, and I look forward to shaping a strong future alongside Ross and the rest of the executive team.”
Looking Ahead
As Ross Perot Jr. assumes leadership, expectations are high for a bold, innovation-driven agenda at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. With his deep business acumen and passion for free enterprise, Perot is poised to help American businesses navigate complex challenges while fostering sustainable economic growth at home and on the global stage.
